Spring Colds

Well it is once again that time of year. It is cold and flu season. And if you're a parent, then you know that your children and their little friends will be sharing every germ under the sun and bringing them home to the rest of the family. What is that supposed to mean you ask. Well to me that means that you will soon have a community full of sick people. Doctor's Offices and ERs will become crowded with all of the people who have been blessed by the love of the children in their family.

Last night I was up over half the night with an ill child. My six year old daughter Angel came home from school yesterday complaining that her tummy hurt. Then she spent a couple of hours running to the bathroom because her little booty was telling her that it was urgent that she get there quick. And then if that wasn't enough, she then spent the rest of the night hanging over my 5 qt stock pot, unable to hold anything down. My heart broke for her. I knew she was miserable.

As parents we hate it when our children are sick or hurt. And we would do anything within our power to make it all better. What can we do though when it's not within our power to make it all better? Those magic kisses that us mommies are famous for can't fix every booboo. And that's where we get frustrated. We can't fix every wrong that is done to our children. No doubt about it, we wish we could. So in the mean time we stand strong in front of our children. Then when they have either gone to bed or went out for the evening, we close ourselves in our rooms and cry the tears of pain that all parents shed for their children.
